This first part of a two-part series discusses the approaches that McGoldrick and Yalom apply to family therapy. The content also includes a therapy session that McGoldrick had with a family. This session includes the process of doing family therapy, evaluating this therapy, and working with a family. It is a reflection of a clinical case made to show the first stages.

Assessment and Engagement in Family Therapy Part II
The second part of the series includes the fourth session with the client. After meeting and speaking with family members, the session is held one-on-one with the client, focusing on the changes observed in the client and the development of the ability to cope with problems.
Following the one-on-one interview with the client, a fourth session was held with only the parents. In this session, the problems stemming from the fact that the family members mentioned in the previous sessions had ties to another family from the father's side were discussed. The other family the father had and the family he lived with Differences and problems in communication are discussed.

Harnessing the Power of Genograms in Psychotherapy

Monica McGoldrick, the therapist who developed and popularized genograms, shows how to create them and how to use them in a therapy session. In this session, she works with John, a 38-year-old African American man who is bewildered by his withdrawal from his newly pregnant wife. This video also includes an interview between Victor Yalom and Monica McGoldrick and provides viewers with a deeper understanding of McGoldrick's approach and his thoughts on the session.
